Geranium ✿✿✿

Interior view of the Geranium restaurant sign with decorative flowers in the foreground.

For Carter’s 23rd Birthday, we went to Copenhagen for a week with friends Mitch Morgan and Paul Ellington. I was able to secure a table at Geranium for the actual birthday – a great present for sure. We were one step closer to visiting all three Michelin-starred restaurants in the city. Our mission is to dine at as many three-starred restaurants as possible.

The restaurant is situated on the 8th floor of the Parken Stadium – home to F.C. Copenhagen and the Danish national team in a light and airy space. It is an elegant setting for food that is also exceptionally elegant and artful.

A commencer

Appetizers…

“Danish tradition” salted herring in crispy algae, dill & aquavit
Lightly smoked blek roe, milk & kale
Oysters, pickled celeriac & “Ruggeost”
Boiled beetroot from “Kiselgarden” with horseradish
Jerusalem artichoke, walnuts, fermented cabbage juice & truffle
A trio of Chablis to pair with our delicate seafood-centric meal

Savoury Servings…

Kohlrabi with sol, raw-apple, hazelnut oil & caviar
“Demeter” crispy grains, buns with seeds & bread pancake with onions
Carter and Mitch are enjoying the experience.
Scallop, black currant & smoked butter
Sauce with pickled elderberries & mushrooms
Turbot stuffed with turbot fins
Today’s harvest from the plant kingdom

Dessert course…

Chamomile, pear, citrus herbs & buttermilk
Tart with sunflower seeds, youghurt & Geranium-glazed apples
Chocolate with Jersulem artichoke, prunes & grain coffee

After lunch we were treated to a tour of the cellar, restaurant, and kitchen.

Happy 23rd Birthday, Carter

As you can see in the photos, the dishes are light and elegant. Lunch was truly an exceptional meal.
