I had the privilege of sharing my super great friend and business partner Glenn’s birthday with him and his family at Casa Curtis. He suggested that we cook at his house, and I offered to make him something from the CookCookEatEat catalog. He had heard about the #hadburger for some time and suggested that we make this dish – my first time in 2021. I was only happy to oblige and treat him and our families to a world-famous Hadland meal! I love it when my friends and family ask me to cook for them, a perfect way to share and show my love and affection.
Glenn and I are literally brothers from another mother. Our mothers’ names are both Patricia, and Glenn and I were born in the same hospital in Burien, WA about a year apart. His folks Frank and Patricia were there along with his wife Tami and oldest son Ryan. Apparently Frank and my persona-non-grata father both worked at Boeing as well.
I had my mom in tow along with my sons Carter and Rhone. Glenn’s youngest son Ryan was missing as he is finishing his freshman year at Cal Poly. I expect a repeat of the #hadburger will be in short order chez Casa Curtis so Ryan can experience this most excellent signature Hadland dish. The meal was nearly perfect except I forgot the egg yolk to help bind the burger patties. With so many ingredients and a generous amount of capers, the patties were a bit fragile, but we managed. Nothing like cooking a little steak tartare for your burgers!
For the avoidance of doubt, everyone was somehow able to consume their #hadburgers, and some of us sans fork and knife. Oh, and I was the first person to use Glenn’s new Genesis II gas grill. I think I broke it in quite well!
